21. MEDAL HARRY DE VROOME
2003, cast bronze, Ø 86 mm, (c)

obverse: landscape typical for the province of Drenthe with river-bed and village
reverse: reading the Dutch legend: het landschap als blijvende bron van inspiratie en levensvreugde (the landscape as an enduring source of inspiration and delight in life) you rotate the medal three-quarter round. Then you see the big letter U, this is in Dutch the form of etiquette for ’you’, while de Vroome was somebody with a great respect for all living species.

Turning the Medal back to its obverse you need to rotate it as well for the right position to realize that the landscape, well-preserved, needs a steady attention.
